This September we hosted our first Mississippi Chef Challenge. Our Chef Challenge event is held during Hunger Action Month (September) to raise awareness concerning the issue of hunger and how it affects 1 in 6 people along the Florida Gulf Coast. Hunger Action Month is a nationwide hunger-relief awareness campaign set forth by our corporate affiliate, Feeding America.
The Mississippi Chef Challenge took place on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Biloxi Civic Center in Biloxi, MS.

World Food Championships Qualifying Event
Congratulations to Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast for winning our C Spire Grand Champion Award presented by Alabama Coasting at Chef Challenge! Their pan seared foie gras with fire roasted fuji apples and wild berry gastrique was delicious and we are excited for them to compete in World Food Championships in Orange Beach!

Support the Backpack Program
For every child sponsored at our Chef Challenge events, Columbia Southern University matched the donations up to $5,500. The food bank’s Backpack Program, provides bags filled with food for children to take home on weekends. Children are selected by school teachers and counselors and are identified as having little to no food at home. $135 will provide backpacks for one child for an entire school year.
